MetLife Australia has appointed BT executive Deanne Stewart as its new CEO.

She replaces Marc Lieberman, who returned to the US last year, and interim CEO Damien Green.

Ms Stewart was previously GM superannuation, marketing and direct at BT, before which she served as GM customer experience and marketing.

She will join Metlife’s Asia leadership team and will report to MetLife Senior VP and Head of Designated Markets and Health Asia Nirmala Menon.

“Australia is an important market for us in Asia,” Dr Menon said. “Ms Stewart brings a wealth of experience, leadership acumen and relationship-building skills to the business.”

Dr Menon says Ms Stewart will help MetLife “build a strong, differentiated position in the Australian marketplace”.
