Associations name conference star attractions

The Association of Financial Advisers (AFA) and the Financial Planning Association (FPA) have announced leading keynote speakers for their conferences next month.

The AFA event will feature Dom Sagolla who will talk about co-founding Twitter, being laid off by the social network and bouncing back with a phone app company.

The AFA has also secured customer service expert and New York Times best-selling author Ron Kaufman.

The FPA conference will feature Bam Alliance Director of Investor Education Carl Richards.

Bam comprises 130 independent US wealth management companies. Mr Richards will talk about problems communicating with clients.

Other keynote speakers include famous US legal campaigner Erin Brockovich and Benjamin Roberts-Smith, who won a Victoria Cross serving in Afghanistan.

Australian Securities and Investments Commission Deputy Chairman Peter Kell will also speak, as will senior members of the Financial Planning Standards Board.

The AFA conference will be at Royal Pines on the Gold Coast from October 13 to 15.

The FPA event is at Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 17 to 18.
