ASIC officer ‘doesn’t trust’ financial planners
Sharman Grant, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s Assistant Director of Compliance and intermediaries, has been reported by a personal investment industry publication allegedly calling financial planners untrustworthy.
According to Money Management, Ms Grant told a CPA Australia conference in Sydney last week that she doesn’t use financial advisers “because I just don’t trust them”.
While she reportedly qualified her views as personal and made to illustrate a point, Ms Grant’s statements will do little to sooth planners’ growing hostility towards the regulator – and their efforts to change negative attitudes (see following story).
Ms Grant did not respond to calls from Sunrise Exchange News yesterday.
