Aon tackles underinsurance through special deal

Aon Hewitt has given members of its superannuation master trust the opportunity to increase their death and total and permanent disablement cover without medical evidence.

The offer runs till December 9 and it will enable members to increase their cover to $500,000 in the AIA group life insurance policy.

Aon Head of Retirement Products Peter Lewis told insuranceNEWS.com.au the offer was being made to encourage members to increase their levels of cover.

“We had identified underinsurance was an issue for our members,” he said. “So with this offer they can apply to increase their cover by answering a simple questionnaire and no medical.”

The offer is only open to members aged under 55 who already hold a policy in the trust and have not made a claim before.

The average death insurance cover in the trust at present is about $200,000 and it is index-linked, Mr Lewis says.

“We believe this offer will be helpful to those members who are underinsured.”
