AMP planning head jumps to MLC

Former head of financial planning at AMP-owned Ipac and Genesys Matthew Fogarty has been appointed GM of NAB’s Garvan and MLC Financial Planning.

He replaces James Meade, who was been promoted to Head of Partnerships Development.

Mr Fogarty has worked in the financial advice industry for more than 20 years and was a founding partner of Encore Group, a specialist practice management consulting business.

NAB Wealth Advice Partnerships GM Ross Barnwell says Mr Fogarty’s extensive experience makes him “perfectly placed to lead MLC Financial Planning and Garvan”.

“Our aim is to be the licensee partner of choice based on our ability to support our firms through better technology, practical customer insights and a culture of innovation,” Mr Barnwell said. “I have no doubt Mr Fogarty will strengthen that position.”

AMP has replaced Mr Fogarty with Tim Mitchell-Adams, who becomes MD of Charter and Ipac, with responsibility for Jigsaw and SMSF Advice. Genesys is being shut down.

He was previously AMP’s head of retail sales and national accounts.

AMP Group Executive Advice and Banking Rob Caprioli says the appointment reflects Mr Mitchell-Adams’ deep knowledge of advice and strong leadership skills.

“He is an excellent leader and is passionate about the delivery of a high-quality advice experience for customers,” Mr Caprioli said. “He has developed strong relationships with advisers across Charter and Ipac over many years and his focus will be on ensuring high standards of adviser professionalism.”

AMP Financial Planning and Hillross continue to be led by Michael Guggenheimer.
