AMP overhauls advice business, management

AMP has shaken up its advice business, with a new structure and changes to the management line-up.

It will establish a dedicated governance function and independent boards for each licensee, to deliver a consistent standard of advice.

There is a new channel strategy and a services team to focus on simplifying adviser processes.

Group Executive Advice and New Zealand Jack Regan says the business has a number of advice offerings, including Hillross, Charter, Jigsaw, SMSF Advice, AMP Financial Planning and AMP Advice.

“Our simplified and enhanced operating structure will better support and grow this network,” he said. “The changes we’ve announced position us to continue our growth and support our advisers to make a positive difference to the lives of many Australians.”

Michael Guggenheimer has become Executive Director Advice, to establish the licensee boards and controlling adviser governance.

He was previously MD of the Hillross and AMP Financial Planning dealer groups.

AMP Financial Planning, AMP Advice, AMP Horizons and AMP Direct will come together as an integrated unit, with Michael Paff as MD. He was previously director of channel services at AMP.

Dean Thomas, who was previously director of product strategy and services at AMP, will lead Hillross as MD.

Neil Swindells, a former MD of Ipac, has been appointed MD of Charter.

Chris Digby, Head of Financial Planning in NSW at Hillross and AMP Financial Planning, will become MD of SMSF Advice and Jigsaw.

Dave Akers has been appointed Director Channel Strategy and Services, having previously been transformation director at AMP.
