AMP improves product offerings
AMP has overhauled its individual and group life insurance products with more medical conditions covered and improvements to its claims service.
With individual life cover, there have been more than 33 enhancements, but the most significant changes have been to trauma products.
The insurer is now covering type one and two diabetes under its optimum and premier products.
AMP Director of Retail Risk Michael Rogers says including diseases such as diabetes will ensure the products remain contemporary and relevant.
“Diabetes is Australia’s fastest growing chronic disease,” he said.
“There are already 3.2 million Australians with diabetes and pre-diabetes and 275 more Australians develop the disease every day.”
Mr Rogers says adding this condition to its trauma cover expands the protection available to consumers.
Other enhancements include the addition of bacterial meningitis and meningococcal disease.
Another upgrade includes a payment of $10,000 if a person with a total and permanent disability policy dies without death cover.
AMP has also improved its group insurance to allow employees holding personal insurance within flexible super plans to be counted when determining the automatic level of cover for members of the fund.
The insurer has also upgraded its online claims service. “Our customers and financial planners have told us that they would like less paperwork, improved online accessibility and flexibility at claims time,” Mr Rogers said.
“These claims service enhancements aim to provide customers and planners with simpler processes which reduce the end-to-end service time.”
