Allianz Australia has turned its eight-week face-to-face life insurance-buying process into a 12-minute online questionnaire.

Usually purchased through financial advisers, the online service interacts with a third-party underwriting engine – the first in Australia to do so, according to Allianz.

A spokesman said the new system has also helped reduce its costs by 20-30%, allowing it to pass on savings to customers.
