AIA is offering a virtual mental health support service for life customers and their immediate families.

The insurer says My Psychologist is facilitated by Online Psychologists Australia and will provide online consultations with experts.

“In line with our focus on prevention and health promotion, we recognise the significant impact that seeking the right treatment at the earliest opportunity can have on an individual’s overall health,” CEO Damien Mu said.

“The launch of My Psychologist ... is a step to address the unprecedented demand for qualified psychological services.”

Mental health disorders account for 20% of AIA Australia’s life insurance claim book, ranking it in second place.

The proportion of mental health claims made has increased from one in 10 in 2014 to one in four this year.
