AIA hosts junior clinic with English Premier League stars
Star players from English Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur have shared a kickabout with youth Perth athletes as part of an AIA-hosted event.
AIA, which is a Global Principal Partner of Tottenham Hotspur, invited more 50 youngsters from local teams to join warmup, drills, and Q&A sessions led by Head Coach Ange Postecoglou and featuring players including Richarlison, Pierre Hojbjerg, and Emerson Royal. Mr Postecoglou recently become the first Australian to hold a head coaching role in England’s highest football division.
AIA Australia CEO Damien Mu says the “once in a lifetime” event aims to encourage positive and continued attitudes towards exercising, following a recent report from the insurer, which linked unhealthy habits at a young age to increased risk of chronic and deadly disabilities at a later stage of life.
“By showing kids the fun that can be had by interacting in positive physical experiences, such as playing team sports at school, we hope they can be inspired to continue this engagement as they get older,” Mr Mu said.
“Seeing the children today get the opportunity to improve their soccer skills, and meet some incredible global athletes is what Healthier, Longer, Better Lives is all about.”
