AFA opens search for best female adviser

The Association of Financial Advisers’ (AFA) female excellence in advice award will be launched at a series of events in capital cities this month.

CEO Brad Fox says the award, now in its sixth year, demonstrates the association’s commitment to recognising outstanding women in the advice profession.

“[It] stands not only to acknowledge women who are excelling but also to inspire our profession as a whole to rethink the way we deliver advice,” he said.

“Part of our mission is to encourage more women to consider financial advice as a career and more women to take on managerial roles in the industry.”

The award is sponsored by TAL, and the education package for the winner has this year increased to $15,000. An online nomination system has also been introduced.

TAL GM Retail Distribution Niall McConville says the award plays an important role in encouraging more women to become advisers.

“Through this award we have the opportunity to lead the debate on lifting female participation in the advice profession from its current level of 20%,” he said.

“Bridging the gap will help ensure the profession appropriately reflects community diversity and further sustainability of financial advice.”

Judges include Mr Fox, Mr McConville, Elixir Consulting MD Sue Viskovic, Jade Financial Group adviser Dianne Charman, and Dartnall Advisers Principal Eleanor Dartnall.

The winner will be announced at the AFA National Adviser Conference in Canberra on October 7. Nominate here.
