Advisers raise concerns on FOFA and tax laws
Financial advisers want clarification on legislative changes to the Future of Financial Advice and Tax Agent Services acts.
Financial Planning Association (FPA) GM Policy and Conduct Dante De Gori says the new acts were the leading concerns raised at the FPA’s recent roadshows in Tasmania and WA.
“The aim of the current series of roadshows is to not only update and educate planners but also answer any questions or concerns they have regarding specific aspects of the regulation and how this will affect them,” he said.
“The record numbers [attending] are a clear indication that advisers are aware they need to be prepared for the July 1 legislative deadlines and are seeking support towards this goal.”
The FPA’s Perth event attracted 300 advisers, while more than 100 attended the roadshow in Tasmania. The association expects more than 2500 advisers to attend nationally by the time the tour concludes in Melbourne on June 19.
