From today financial advisers must include their training, qualifications and professional association memberships on the financial adviser register.

The online register has had more than 60,000 visits and 100,000 searches since its launch in March. It lists 22,500 advisers.

Insurance brokers are included if they sell life cover or financial products other than general insurance.

Assistant Treasurer Josh Frydenberg says the Government will align information lodgement periods for the adviser register and the authorised representative register to 30 business days.
