Zurich has completed its $US600 million ($932.28 million) acquisition of AIG’s global personal travel business, which will operate under the Cover-More brand.

The purchase, announced in July, will bring AIG’s Travel Guard alongside Cover-More’s other subsidiary groups: Travelx Insurance, World Travel Protection, Cover-More Travel Insurance, Blue Insurance and Universal Assistance.

Zurich has now increased its travel insurance customer base to more than 20 million, with 200 distribution partners worldwide. Global gross written premium now tops $US20 billion ($31.03 billion)

“This acquisition significantly boosts our travel insurance capabilities and amplifies our global footprint,” Zurich Global Ventures CEO Cara Morton said.

Zurich has also announced it will move its Cover-More headquarters to the US under CEO David Fike, who was appointed in July.
