Willis sued over Stanford investments

A Venezuelan investor has taken global broker Willis to court in the US, accusing the company of fraud, negligence and misrepresentation.

Reinaldo Ranni blames Willis for the collapse of Stanford Financial Group, saying brokers gave investors “a misplaced sense of security” over certificates of deposit offered by the bank.

The lawsuit, filed in the US federal court in Miami, asks a judge to certify it as a class action to represent all the investors who relied on the Willis letters to invest with Stanford.

A similar lawsuit was filed against Willis earlier this month in federal court in Dallas by a group of 3000 Mexican investors.
