Willis reports healthy Q3 profit

Willis has posted third-quarter net income of $US117 million ($163.95 million), compared with a loss of $US7 million ($9.8 million) in the corresponding period last year.

Total revenue increased 4.2% to $US846 million ($1.19 billion), while expenses grew 5.27% to $US819 million ($1.15 billion).

Investment income was flat at $US4 million ($5.61 million).

For the nine months to September 30, net income was up 38.9% to $US397 million ($556.31 million).

Group CEO Dominic Casserley says the global broker is in good shape.

“Despite the continued uncertain global economic and insurance market outlook, our strategy and execution have allowed us to generate consistently positive results,” he said.

“We believe we remain on course to achieve mid-single-digit organic growth and stronger underlying revenue growth this year.

“We look forward to the successful completion of the [French broker] Gras Savoye acquisition and proposed Willis Towers Watson merger, which we believe will accelerate our strategy and create further value for all shareholders.”
