Willis books first-half profit increase
Global broker Willis Group has booked a 5% increase in first-half net profit of $US293 million ($326 million) as new business growth contributed to rising revenue.
Total revenue for the six months to June 30 was $US1.77 billion ($1.97 billion), a 3% increase on the same period last year.
A 2% increase in second-quarter net profit of $US89 million ($99 million) further contributed to the improved result alongside a 4% rise in organic commission and fees and 6% growth in net new business.
“This result was in the face of a continued soft insurance market and challenging economic conditions,” Willis Chairman and CEO Joe Plumeri said.
“We continue to exercise disciplined expense management while funding investments for future growth.”
