US Senate votes to renew flood cover
The US Senate approved the renewal of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) in a 92-6 vote last week.
The program will now be extended to 2013, insuring millions of homes against floods.
The Senate bill also forgives a $US17 billion ($18.1 billion) debt the NFIP built up following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
