US federal insurance committee to hold first meeting

The Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance will hold its first meeting on Friday in Washington.

The committee will provide advice to the US Treasury’s Federal Insurance Office, which was established following the global financial crisis in response to concerns about the adequacy of regulation for financial institutions.

The meeting will be open to the public.

The 15 members of the committee include Marsh & McLennan CEO Brian Duperreault, Lloyd’s North America General Counsel Sean McGovern, and the Chubb Corporation senior adviser John Degnan, as well as economists, academics and state insurance regulators.
