UK calls for cross-border co-operation
The UK Government is calling for closer co-operation among European Union regulators.
Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling wants EU regulators to work more closely through supervisory colleges to improve their supervision of cross-border insurers and reinsurers.
The proposals are the UK’s contribution to the development of the risk-based Solvency II framework, which is set to come into force in 2012.
