UK brokers’ leader dies

Well-known UK brokers' advocate Andrew Paddick died suddenly in late January.

Mr Paddick, the Director-General of the Institute of Insurance Brokers (IIB), had been a tough-talking spokesman for brokers since establishing the IIB two decades ago. The association represents more than 1000 UK brokers.

A vigorous champion for brokers on issues such as mandatory commission disclosure and treating customers fairly, Mr Paddick was a regular visitor to Australia.

NIBA CEO Noel Pettersen says the contribution Mr Paddick made to broking is immeasurable.

"He was always dogged, determined and fair in his efforts to bring about the best solutions for brokers," he said. "Andrew was a great friend to many in Australia and had spoken a number of times at our annual convention. His knowledge, expertise and friendship will be missed by all. There will always be only one Andrew Paddick."
