Thai floods advancing through capital

The Thai floods continue to expand and are increasingly affecting the inner city of Bangkok.

Around 18 of Bangkok’s 50 districts are now affected, and Allianz Thailand General Insurance CEO Pakit Iamopas says the length of the inundation will complicate the recovery.

He says although flooding has receded in some rural areas of Thailand, the eastern part of Bangkok is under high risk of flooding and southern Thailand may be affected now the monsoon season has begun.

Mr Pakit says 99% of Allianz claims sites are not yet accessible.

“We have started to prepare for claims adjustment actions once the water recedes,” he said. “Loss adjusters from Allianz in Indonesia and Malaysia are going to support our efforts, along with decontamination specialists who can advise on first aid actions.”
