Swiss Re has appointed Russell Higginbotham as Reinsurance Asia CEO and Regional President, effective from next week. He takes over from Jayne Plunkett.

Mr Higginbotham, who started his career with a UK life insurer, a previous Australia and New Zealand CEO. He is currently CEO reinsurance Europe, Middle East and Asia and Regional President. He has also led Swiss Re’s global life and health products division.

He has also led the life and health business in Japan and South Korea during almost 25 years’ service with Swiss Re.

The reinsurer says Mr Higginbotham’s appointment reflects his experience across Asia and strong track record in the industry.
