Storm Eleanor bill may pass $2 billion: AIR

Insured losses from Winter Storm Eleanor in Europe this month will range from €1.1-€1.6 billion ($1.7-$2.5 billion), according to catastrophe modeller AIR Worldwide.

Most losses are expected in Germany – where the storm was known as Burglind – France, the UK, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Lower losses are anticipated in Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland and Sweden.

Eleanor, the fifth named storm of the European winter, brought wind gusts of up to 160kph as well as flooding in some countries.
