Society to recognise insurance educators

The International Insurance Society (IIS) has created a certificate for universities and colleges with outstanding risk management and insurance programs.

The Global Centres of Insurance Excellence designation will go to universities that meet stringent criteria around course offerings, graduate and industry employment rates, and professional involvement.

IIS President and CEO Mike Morrissey says it acknowledges the role universities play promoting insurance knowledge and research.

“As an important part of our commitment to the advancement of the industry, befitting our roots in the academic community, the IIS is actively engaged in promoting the industry’s role in understanding and mitigating risk,” he said.

He says the program will encourage more faculty and student talent in the field.

An international committee of insurance and risk academics and insurance executives will award the certificates. Further details can be found here.
