RIMS appoints new President and leadership team
The Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) has announced David Arick as its 2024 President, alongside new appointments to its board.
Mr Arick is Assistant Treasurer of Global Risk Management at International Paper and has more than three decades of industry experience, including roles at Abbott Laboratories, General Electric and Emerson Electric.
He joined the RIMS board in 2019, served as treasurer in 2022 and was vice-president last year.
Mr Arick describes risk management as being “at a crossroads”.
“To truly tap risk management’s limitless potential, individually, we must be bold and dive into uncharted professional waters,” he said. “While the profession’s momentum is at an all-time high, to keep it moving in the right direction it is up to the risk community to step out of their comfort zones, sharpen their skills, and set their collective goals even higher.
“My priority as RIMS President is to ensure the society continues to deliver opportunities, resources, networking, events and so much more to empower the risk community to confidently dive into the unknown and advance risk management globally.”
RIMS has also named Sequoia Head of Corporate Risk Kristen Peed as Vice-President and Lendlease Group Head of Risk and Insurance Kevin Bates as Treasurer, and appointed four new board members.
