After doing all the hard work, British insurance giant Prudential has abandoned its lawsuit against American International Group that accused the world’s largest insurer of illegally interfering in its takeover of American General Corp.

AIG is now in talks with American General, even though Prudential insists it still has a deal to take the company over and a $1.2 billion payment at stake. The battle may just be beginning.
