Organic growth gives Aon a strong year

Aon has achieved a 35% rise in overall net income to $US1.53 billion ($2.29 billion) for last year, driven in part by strong organic growth in its commercial risk solutions and reinsurance solutions arms in the December quarter.

Revenue from the commercial risk solutions business increased 5% to $US1.33 billion ($1.99 billion) in the final quarter and 7% on an organic basis. For reinsurance solutions, revenue went up 15% to $US187 million ($279.7 million) and 17% organically.

Overall revenues grew 2% to $11.01 billion ($16.5 billion) last year and 6% organically.

“Our fourth-quarter results reflect strong operational and financial performance to finish the year, highlighted by organic revenue growth of 7%, including growth of 5% or greater in four of the five solutions lines,” CEO Greg Case said.

“Our strong performance reflects continued momentum as we strategically position the firm to bring the best of global Aon to clients and execute against our Aon United strategy.

“We enter 2020 in a position of strength to continue to improve the long-term growth profile of the firm that we believe will unlock significant value for clients and shareholders.”

For the December quarter, net income increased to $US374 million ($559.3 million) from $US345 million ($516 million) a year earlier.
