Oklahoma tornado claims rise as more storms hit

More than 22,400 claims worth $US85 million ($88.4 million) had been filed before more tornadoes hit Oklahoma at the weekend.

The number of claims is expected to rise in coming months, according to the Oklahoma Insurance Department.

Five tornadoes touched down in the state’s centre on Friday, causing floods and at least 13 deaths. Severe storms also hit Missouri.

Oklahoma emergency authorities say some 3937 structures were affected and 1248 destroyed in the first round of tornadoes.
