OAMPS UK accuses former manager of poaching

OAMPS UK is suing a rival broker and a former executive over client and staff poaching, according to a report.

The Insurance Times says OAMPS is suing Michael Eagles and broker Carroll and Partners for more than £300,000 ($482,000).

Mr Eagles sold his brokerage, Fairmont Insurance Services Group, to OAMPS for £750,000 ($1.2 million) in 2002 and became MD of the company, which was renamed OAMPS Special Risks.

It says Mr Eagles joined Carroll and Partners earlier this year after being made redundant, and several OAMPS clients have since moved to his new firm and he has allegedly tried to poach OAMPS staff.

OAMPS has made several acquisitions in the UK in the past few years and has also taken action in Australia to stop former employees poaching clients.

OAMPS would not comment on the UK report.
