New code, new president for British institute
Britain’s Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has a new president and a new code of ethics.
Fortis UK CEO Barry Smith took over as president from Friends Provident CEO Trevor Matthews at the CII’s annual general meeting in London last week.
The new code was voted in at the same meeting. It calls for the highest ethical standards and integrity, action in the best interests of each client and a high standard of service.
Members must treat people fairly, irrespective of race or racial group, sex or sexual orientation, religion or belief, age and disability, and comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
