More windstorm misery as Johanna batters UK and France

Windstorm Johanna moved slowly across southern England and northern France last week, leaving widespread damage in its wake and creating misery for travellers. Ships ran aground, flights were cancelled and power outages experienced.

Johanna followed hard on the heels of the previous week’s Windstorm Emma, which Risk Management Solutions estimates caused insured losses of between €300 million ($496 million) and €700 million ($1.16 billion), mainly in central Europe.
