Marsh reports strong quarter

Marsh recorded net income of $US531 million ($717 million) in the second quarter, up 6% on the corresponding period last year.

Revenue grew 6.8% to $US3.73 billion ($5.04 billion) and investment income soared to $US28 million ($37.8 million) from $US5 million ($6.75 million).

Revenue in risk and insurance services increased 9% to $US2.1 billion ($2.84 billion), including revenue of $US331 million ($447 million) from reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter, up 5%.

“With a solid first half… we believe the company is well positioned to deliver underlying revenue growth in the 3-5% range, margin expansion and strong growth in adjusted earnings per share [this year],” President and CEO Dan Glaser said.
