Marsh makes strong start

Marsh’s Asia-Pacific operations increased revenue by 3% to $US151 million ($162.74 million) in the first quarter, as parent Marsh & McLennan reported a strong start to the year.

Marsh & McLennan reported a profit of $US443 million ($477.45 million), up 7%, on revenue of $US3.3 billion ($3.56 billion), up 4%. President and CEO Dan Glaser says margins improved in both risk and insurance services and consulting.

Marsh’s revenue grew 5% to $US1.45 billion ($1.56 billion) and Guy Carpenter revenue increased 2% to $US381 million ($410.63 million).

Marsh’s international operations grew strongly, with Asia-Pacific revenues up 9% when currency factors and asset sales are taken out.
