Marsh gets a makeover

Marsh McLennan is the new name replacing Marsh & McLennan Companies, accompanied by a new refreshed logo – an abstract infinity symbol.

The four businesses which make up the enterprise – Marsh (insurance broking and risk management solutions), Guy Carpenter (reinsurance and capital strategies), Mercer (health, wealth and career consulting and solutions) and Oliver Wyman (strategy, economic and brand consulting) – will maintain their existing names.

In the coming year, each will adopt modernised logos and “cohesive visual identities to reflect this new notion of ourselves,” a brand announcement notice says.

Marsh McLennan says it is no longer a “company of companies”, and is now one enterprise with four global businesses tackling issues together which work “best when we bring our collective expertise to meet the most complex challenges”.

The change “conveys our coming together as an enterprise and the infinite possibilities we create for our clients, our colleagues, and our company,” Marsh McLennan says.

The name and logo revamp “reflects the unified and dynamic organisation that we have become” – that is “one company, with four global businesses, united by a shared purpose”.

“Our new name carries forward our heritage while representing our strength as one enterprise,” it says.

Marsh McLennan was founded after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and now has 76,000 staff and clients in more than 130 countries, with annual revenue of $US17 billion ($21.94 billion).

“In 2021 – our 150th year – we continue to strive for excellence and innovation in all of our endeavours, in the spirit of our founders, Henry Marsh and Donald McLennan,” Marsh McLennan said.

“We’re continuing to help our clients prosper amid times of great change and challenge.”
