Marsh exec set to run ACORD

Global insurance data standards group the Association for Co-operative Operations Research and Development (ACORD) has appointed Bill Pieroni as its new President and CEO.

He replaces Greg Maciag, who will retire after nearly 40 years with the organisation.

Mr Pieroni is moving to ACORD from Marsh, where he is Global COO and Chief Technology and Transformation Officer across the broker’s Risk and Insurance business.

Prior to joining Marsh he served in senior roles at US insurer State Farm and Aon, where he was global chief information officer. He also worked at IBM as GM of its insurance business, and consultants Accenture and McKinsey & Company.

ACORD Chairman Sal Branca says Mr Pieroni, who served on the organisation’s board for 10 years, “is an example of the best in our industry. He is a strong leader with deep knowledge of the insurance business and a vision for the future success of ACORD.”

Mr Maciag was also named President Emeritus of ACORD and will be an adviser to the organisation.
