Lord Levene leaps from Lloyd’s to Starr

Former Lloyd’s Chairman Lord Levene has joined Maurice “Hank” Greenberg’s Starr International as a director and vice chairman.

Mr Greenberg, the former Chairman and CEO of AIG who is now the Chairman and MD of Starr, says Lord Levene will solidify Starr’s position in London as a major insurer as well as further develop its insurance and other portfolio interests around the world.

“Under his leadership, Lloyd’s prospered in the London market as well as gained admission in a number of important markets throughout the world,” he said. “I am delighted that he has joined our company.”

Lord Levene is credited with expanding the market’s global reach and helping move the market into China during his nine years at Lloyd’s.

Starr underwrites property, casualty, and accident and health insurance, and a range of specialty covers including aviation, marine, energy and excess casualty.
