Lloyd’s creates new role to drive Indian expansion

Lloyd’s has appointed Shankar Garigiparthy to the new role of Country Manager India, as part of its push into the country’s enormous market.

He will be responsible for market development, representing Lloyd’s in discussions with regulators and building business relationships.

Lloyd’s General Representative in India Arun Agarwal will continue to provide expert guidance and counsel to the market.

Mr Garigiparthy has more than 23 years’ experience in financial services, and was most recently Lloyd’s regional compliance manager in Singapore.

As director of insurance supervision at the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority he set up a regulatory framework for insurance companies. He also worked for Lloyd’s in London earlier in his career, as senior regulatory officer and capital relationships manager.

Director of Global Markets Vincent Vandendael says India is an important part of Lloyd’s Vision 2025 global growth strategy.
