Law firms under suspicion in claims crackdown
Ten UK law firms and dozens of claims management companies are reportedly under investigation for alleged insurance fraud.
The alleged fraud centres on kickbacks paid by law firms to claims handlers in exchange for business.
These commissions are usually legal but industry watchdog the Insurance Fraud Bureau says it is cracking down on firms profiting from bogus claims.
Insurance fraud is estimated to cost the UK industry about £1.6 billion ($3.4 billion) a year.
