UK-based broker Jardine Lloyd Thompson has warned local firms they must address the new UK Government regulations on asbestos in the workplace. The legislation means that companies with asbestos contamination of their buildings are legally obliged to make them safe or else face fines or imprisonment.

Businesses which fail to manage asbestos risks are also liable to be sued by employees or even visitors to their buildings if such individuals contract an asbestos-related illness.
