Ireland bans contingency fee advertising

Now it’s the Irish Government joining the attack on the compensation culture. It has announced new regulation banning lawyers from advertising for compensation business. The move comes in response to complaints from business groups that contingency or “no-win no-fee” lawyer advertising is encouraging false claims and pushing up insurance premiums.

The new regulations will restrict solicitors from advertising general services and strictly ban any reference to personal injuries or claims for damages. And the Irish Law Society is backing the move. It says the public image of the law profession has been damaged by “ambulance-chasing” lawyers.
