Haste joins Lloyd’s as deputy chairman

Former RSA Insurance Group CEO Andy Haste has been appointed one of three deputy chairmen on the Lloyd’s Council.

He began his three-year term last week following a 14-month break from the insurance industry.

It comes as the market begins a push into emerging and non-traditional economies. Lloyd’s recently returned to profitability, posting a £1.53 billion ($2.37 billion) surplus for the six months to June 30 after a relatively benign period of weather.

“Lloyd’s has an exciting strategy for extending its brand in new international markets,” Mr Haste said.

Before his eight years at the helm of RSA, Mr Haste was CEO at Axa Sun Life and a director of Axa UK.
