Forgettable year for Crawford

International claims management specialist Crawford & Company had a year to forget in 2009, reporting an annual loss of $US115.7 million ($130.2 million).

Increased pension expenses, foreign currency movement, restructuring charges and a goodwill write-off all contributed to the loss.

Results were brighter during the fourth quarter, with net profit rising 6% to $US8.9 million ($10 million).
