Fires tear through Canada, California
More than 350 structures are believed to have been destroyed as wildfire ripped through the tourist town of Jasper in Alberta, Canada, last week.
About 25,000 people were evacuated from the town and Jasper National Park as a 100-metre “firewall” swept through, according to reports.
There are more than 150 active fires across the province, with 44 out of control, authorities say.
A contingent of 116 fire and emergency specialists from Australia and New Zealand travelled to Alberta and British Columbia to help earlier this month.
Meanwhile, California has declared a state of emergency in Plumas, Butte and Tehama counties after fires burnt more than 275,000 hectares, affecting almost 250 structures.
