Marsh & McLennan President and CEO Brian Duperreault has been named Chairman of the US Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance.

The committee provides advice to the US Treasury’s Federal Insurance Office (FIO), which was established following the global financial crisis in response to concerns about the adequacy of regulation for financial institutions.

It will meet several times a year to develop recommendations for the FIO.

Other members of the committee include Lloyd’s North America General Counsel Sean McGovern, Chubb Corporation senior adviser John Degnan and various economists, academics and state insurance regulators.
