Doyle’s star rises at Dual

Underwriter Dual has expanded the role of former Zurich Australia CEO Shane Doyle, appointing him CEO of Dual UK and Group Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).

It says his task will be to ensure global consistency in the company’s approach to risk appetite and selection.

Mr Doyle joined the group last year as Deputy CEO of Dual International, reporting to CEO Damien Coates.

In that role he has focused on increased governance and underwriting profitability.

His appointment as CUO “supports our desire to be ‘best in market’ on compliance, governance and delivering the return on capital that our insurer partners expect from us”, Mr Coates says.

The UK operations “are an important global hub for Dual and Shane’s UK and global experience will help deliver a superior underwriting business”.

Dual UK Chairman Russell Kilpatrick has also added to his responsibilities, taking on the additional role of Executive Director, Global Markets at Dual International.

He will support specialist products and geographic expansion.

Dual also has a new Chief Risk Officer at group level, with former Dual International CUO Paul Ferris taking the position. He will oversee risk, compliance, claims and underwriting governance.

The changes follow a strategic review at Dual, the underwriting arm of UK-based Hyperion Insurance Group.
