Chubb is introducing personal cyber coverage in North America as a supplement to its Masterpiece homeowners’ policy.

The cover includes cyber attacks that lead to extortion, financial loss, bullying, disruption and breach of privacy.

North America Cyber Practice Executive VP Michael Tanenbaum says the importance of cyber cover has increased, with data easily falling into the wrong hands through simply clicking on the wrong email or downloading an app.

“Personal cyber protection is no longer a ‘nice to have’ but rather a ‘must have’,” he said.

Clients receive discounted access to third-party resources, including tools for securing network and mobile devices and help identifying online manipulation.

The cyber policy has been introduced in Washington DC and 15 states, and will be more widely distributed in the US and Canada this year and next.
