Chartis wants to go back to the future
A senior Chartis executive has revealed the international arm of the business would like to go back to its old brand – AIG.
Global Commercial Insurance CEO John Doyle told a New York conference last week the company’s international operations “are begging us to rebrand as AIG”, indicating the Chartis name has failed to establish a foothold.
Mr Doyle says the company faced “no reputational issue whatsoever in our property and casualty (P&C) business” as AIG.
AIG’s global P&C business changed its name to Chartis in 2009 following the US Government bailout of its parent company in 2008.
The name change was deemed necessary after a survey of 7000 brokers, clients and employees determined it needed a more distinct brand from its parent company.
