CGNU raises its profit performance
British insurance giant CGNU has pushed its first-half profits rise by 42%. CEO Richard Harvey said a strong performance from its life division and better general insurance results raised operating profits to £977 million (about $2.8 billion).
The result was much better than analysts had predicted. General insurance profits were up 124% to £427 million, mainly due to a low catastrophe rate in Europe so far this year.
