Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has added Defence Base Act (DBA) insurance to its portfolio of products.

DBA insurance is required by US law for private employers and government contractors, including those in public works, in national defence or outside the US on American military bases.

It provides disability, medical and death benefits to covered workers, and will be sold via a DBA-dedicated underwriting and claims team based in Dubai.

The insurer’s DBA specialists have established relationships with key vendors in volatile regions, Mr Yadvendu said.

BHSI’s product offers additional coverage such as emergency medical evacuation and supplementary repatriation expenses.
